SAGA VICTIM answers in a fast, effective and structured way to the important volume of calls generated by the announcement catastrophe. The call taking is largely automated, because the solution is integrated with a telephone central. The structure of the application avoids redundant data and establishes relations between callers, sought persons and victims in the form of investigation sheets.. Internal workflow transmits the sheets to the police or to the crisis headquarters for processing.
SAGA VICTIM, often named EPIC (Emergency Passenger Information Centre) is easy to implement and roll out. The easy deployment in case of a catastrophe is based on wireless and not dedicated equipment. The access can be given to services from any part of the world, through the asynchronous Internet client software. An Internet address and a password, is all that is needed.
The volunteers’ management
As a catastrophe is announced, the first phase consists of the automated mobilization of volunteers or other persons designated to ensure the workings of the Emergency Passenger Information Centre. The persons are automatically selected according to specific criteria and called. Responses are recorded using vocal servers ensuring an optimal task force..
The call taking
Once in place, the Emergency Passenger Information Centre provides a public telephone number to which calls requesting information of potential victims can be directed. When an operator receives a call, information about the caller can be automatically gathered using an electronic telephone. A call card is created to which the operator adds any information concerning the person(s) the caller is seeking along with their kinship.
Multilingual
To assist the operator with the dialog with the callers the operators can switch the language of the user interface to that of the caller by simply selecting the language in a menu.
Classification
The information collected by the operators is matched with the list of victims, resulting in investigation sheets. Investigation sheets are displayed and continuously updated in sorted lists where matches and relationships are clearly displayed and highlighted.
Transmission
As information continues to be added to the investigation sheets, when a victim is matched with a sought person having a minimum degree of relationship with the caller, a workflow process will bring the investigation sheet to next stage. This would typically be the police in charge of verifying identities. Dedicated entries in the investigation sheet allow the police to enter complementary information about the victim such as location (advanced medical station, hospital, mortuary, etc.) and to contact the caller when next of kin.
Profiles
User profiles make it possible to define what of information of the investigation sheets is visible by each user. In theory, entries made by the police will not be visible by other types of operators.
Telephone recalls
As the telephone is fully integrated in the solution, when it is necessary to contact a caller, the operator need not compose the number but can automatically establish the communication simply by clicking on the person’s number.
Add-ons
SAGA VICTIM makes possible to add variable parts to the investigation sheets. These can be key questions for the call taking, a reserved zone for an airline, a travel agency or any other organization requesting specific information. If necessary this specific information can be filtered by user profiles.
Reports and statistics
It is possible to draw all the requested reports and statistics at any time using an elegant tool displaying results in three dimensions and color. Text panels displaying information in real-time are also be available.
Periodic tests of the volunteers’ presence
SAGA VICTIM can be launched in a test mode with a message indicating that it is an exercise allowing the direction of the crisis center to test the automated mobilization and the level of answer of the volunteers.
Internet
The architecture of SAGA makes possible to treat the distant stations as if they were local, giving access through Internet to external organizations, as the concerned companies, from any part of the earth.
